HISTORY
Formed nearly 25 years ago, Gregory Thomas Associates are specialist in corporate communications literature and direct response materials. The award-winning company produces a diverse range of strategic marketing support collateral - brand analysis, development and implementation, advertising and marketing materials - for clients in Los Angeles, New York, Sydney, Auckland, Vienna, Tokyo and Osaka. Gregory Thomas has been the sole owner and principal since its inception. ^top

SIZE
GTA maintains a limited number of full time employees (4) with an extremely large network of support staff. GTA has a bank of tried and proven experts in all fields that are called on a per-project basis as needed. We have never hired an unknown commodity to work on a project. All employees of GTA work in the creation of direct marketing materials and are multi-faceted in writing, design, and marketing. There are no secretaries, no account executives -by design and the client deals directly with the principal. ^top

SCOPE
Gregory Thomas Associates serves as creative consultants to corporations in the business, industry and service sectors, including Litton Industries, CBS Television Network, IBM, The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and Seagram's International.

During the past nine years, GTA has added tourism accounts to its roster with such key clients as the Australian (Government) Tourist Commission, Queensland (Australia) Travel & Tourism Corporation, New South Wales Tourism Office, New Zealand (Government) Tourism Board, The Austrian National Tourist Board, Quantas Airways and Singapore Airlines.

In collaboration with its sister design firm in Osaka, GTA developed identities for National Panasonic, Maruni Furniture (Japan's largest furniture manufacturer) as well as the design of city parks in the Osaka area. GTA completed trademark development and system applications for Japan's HONMA Corporation, one of the world's largest commercial contractors and builders.

GTA has won numerous national and international design awards. Included is a Gold Quill from the International Association of Business Communicators for the TRW publication, "QUEST," as well as awards for the best corporate identity programs in the United States for numerous years. In 2000, GTA has won a bronze from the Summit Awards in New York and a bronze from the New York Festivals and continues to win international awards.

GTA has also received awards from the New York Art Directors, the Type Directors Club, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Los Angeles Art Directors Club. The company has been featured in many prestigious graphic design publications including Print magazine, Communication Arts magazine, Trademarks and Logotypes of the World, Expressive Typography and many publications in Japan and Europe. GTA has received an award from the Tokyo Type Directors Club and had selected works published in "Logotypes of the World"(Japan). GTA has won several medals in direct marketing competitions including a Silver and Bronze from the Direct Marketing Creative Guild and a Gold and Silver in direct marketing from PATA. GTA has also received Summit Awards for branding in 1999 & 2000.

In 1991, the Australian Tourist Commission awarded the prestigious 150 page "Destination Australia" book to GTA, the first time the book had been created outside Australia. Response was so positive that GTA was awarded the contract for three consecutive years including a variety of publications and direct marketing materials. These materials included direct market response mechanisms, trade ads, incentive marketing materials.

Upon being awarded the international branding for Kahlœa by Allied Domecq, GTA developed a new global voice for the liquor. The branding program launched in spring 1998, created industry wide attention. In response, Allied Domecq awarded the international branding program for Baskin-Robbins ice cream to GTA in spring 1999. GTA's unique solution, completed in Fall 1999, created world wide attention.

GTA launched a flexible identity system for Edmunds.com - a 30-year old car buying research and information publishing company. GTA completed work on logos and applications for Edmunds Live! Test Drive Tour. GTA has completed new branding projects for AccentCare, Inc., a company that assists seniors and their adult children with at-home assisted living and other care management services.

GTA has developed a brand identity for the University/Exposition Park area of Los Angeles that captures the architectural, educational, religious and culturally diversity it has to offer.

Always looking to the latest trends. GTA expanded their services to include new media in 1994. GTA has completed the redesign of the Palm Springs Desert Resort Visitors and Conventions Bureau website as well as the USC Annenberg School of Journalism, the Western Knight Center website, the USC Annenberg School of Communication website. Recently, GTA has completed the USC Arts Initiative 5th Annual Festival of the Arts website.

Gregory Thomas has written and designed a book on branding and logo development titled "How to Design Logos, Symbols & Icons" from Northlight Books. The 144-page book contains interviews and comprehensive step by step case studies from over 24 designers and design firms including GTA. Greg's book is very popular and on sale at most book stores and on the internet. Mr. Thomas has begun work on his next publication, "Branding U." A study in the brand equity of universities and colleges.
